#18 • SEPTEMBER 22 THE WITCH’S SHIELD Witch of Old: Jeanne de Brigue Apotropaic painting w/incantation • Protection • Enemy Blocking • Spiritual Defense • Return Harm to enemy (a painting of Jeanne de Brigue will be ritually consecrated as an apotropaic ward and given a protective incantation, establishing it as a symbolic guardian for all clients included in the working.) Jeanne de Brigue was a French soothsayer and healer from the Ardennes whose story reaches back to the 14th century. She became known for divination, healing and practices authorities regarded as sorcery, including accounts involving communication with spirits. Her reputation ultimately brought her before the authorities in Paris, where she was condemned for witchcraft and executed in 1391. THE WITCH’S SHIELD is not passive protection. It establishes a strong defensive barrier around the client while targeting hostile influence, spiritual interference and people deliberately attempting to cause harm. Part 1 • Raise the Shield: Establishes protection around the client, their home and their spiritual road. Part 2 • Bar the Enemy: Blocks hostile people and unwanted spiritual influence from gaining easy access to the client. Part 3 • Turn the Hand: Mirror work redirects hostile intentions away from the protected client rather than allowing them to take hold. An offering to Jeanne de Brigue is included on behalf of every participant. A dedicated protection incantation will be placed upon the painting, symbolically linking it to the clients and establishing it as a guardian of the working. The painting serves as the physical anchor of the spell, intended to repel hostile influence, reinforce spiritual defenses, and continually represent the protective boundary established around each client.
