DEVIL’S NIGHT Casting Date: October 19 DUME • Cemetery Work With Spirits of the Dead • Coffin Box Effigy Burial • Death Work With Eurynomous Devil’s Night is one of the darkest workings in October’s lineup, built as an intensive DUME rite centered around cemetery work, spirits of the dead, death work and coffin box effigy burial. October is traditionally regarded as a time when the veil between the living and the dead grows thin, allowing the spirits of the dead to come through stronger and making this month especially powerful for cemetery and ancestral death work. The ritual moves directly into the cemetery, where spirits of the dead are called into the working. A dedicated effigy representing the target is placed inside a coffin box and buried, carrying the death work directly into the grave and giving the rite its physical anchor. Every element of Devil’s Night is built around the cemetery, coffin box, effigy, spirits of the dead and the grave, taking full advantage of October’s thinning veil. How the demon assists: Eurynomous, associated in later demonological tradition with death, corpses and the dead, presides over the death current of the ritual and strengthens its connection to burial, cemetery spirits and the grave. ⚰️ When the veil grows thin, the dead come closer.
