WARDING A SPIRIT BOARD

WARDING A SPIRIT BOARD

Spirit boards, also known as Ouija boards, have a fascinating history and are widely used for communication with spirits. The concept of using a board to communicate with the spirit world dates back to ancient China, but the modern version we know today was patented in the late 19th century.

While some believe that spirit boards can provide a genuine connection to the spirit realm, others view them as mere tools of the subconscious mind. It is important to approach spirit boards with caution and respect, as they can be powerful tools that should be used responsibly.

There are many different types of spirit boards. There are boards you can purchase made by companies like Hasbro (original ouija), you can buy custom boards by private craftspeople, you can even make your own. Not all spirit board are designed the same way and not all are called Ouija boards. All Spirit boards regardless of design are created for the same purpose and that is to be used as a tool of divination or as the tale goes, “to speak to the dead”.

Despite the scary history of these boards told by people through the decades, the board itself holds no power of it’s own. Much like pendulum work, scrying through a crystal ball or black mirror, these tools are perfect instruments in occult practices for opening up doorways or portals to other worlds in order to receive messages.

Ouija boards are considered by some to be dangerous due to the potential risks involved in communicating with the spirit world. The main concern is that when using a Ouija board, one may unknowingly invite negative or malevolent entities into their space. Additionally, if not used properly or with the right intentions, it is believed that one can open themselves up to spiritual manipulation or deception. It is important to approach Ouija boards with caution and respect, and to be aware of the potential risks involved which brings us to the first and most crucial steps before beginning your spirit board session and that is cleansing and WARDING THE BOARD.

CLEANSING THE BOARD

When you have finally found a board that you like, you will want to perform a cleansing on the board before you do anything else. If the board is used, you will also have to perform a banishing as well. It is recommended that you start with a new, or not previously used board as these could very well have spirits attached to them that you do not want hanging around. (See Banishing)

To perform a spiritual cleansing on a spirit board, start by setting your intention to remove any negative or stagnant energy from the object. You can then use various methods such as spraying with Florida water or salt water, passing the board through sage smoke while visualizing the release of any negative energy. Another method is to place the board in a ring of salt and burning a white candle on top of it. These practices are for the purpose of purification. You can also use sound, such as ringing a bell or playing a singing bowl, to cleanse the board. Remember to trust your intuition and choose a method that resonates with you and the tool you are cleansing.

BANISHING

To banish negative spirits from an object, there are several methods you can try. To begin a banishing, you will want to take the board outside, away from your space. You will need palo santo or sage and a feather. Another method is to place the object in direct sunlight or moonlight for a period of at least half an hour, as the light is believed to have purifying properties. You can summon a guardian spirit or demon to enforce your next steps or if you’re fully confident in yourself, then you can proceed into casting out unwanted spirits.

Remember, intention and belief are key in these practices. As you are smoking your board, you will begin to cast out unwanted spirits. You will demand them to leave and so so with authority, claiming the board now clean and belonging to you and that they cannot return unless you specifically invite them through.

WARDING

ree

To ward an object and protect yourself from trickster or sinister spirits that would mean you harm, you can use protective symbols, such as the pentagram or the evil eye, and place them near or on the object. You can create sigils of protection or use the sigil of your guardian spirit, angel or matron / patron demon in order for it to be protected from any negative influences. It is important to charge your symbol or sigil before applying it as a ward.

For Example:

Let’s say your matron spirit is Lilith. You would begin evoking Lilith’s through activating her seal. You would lift your board into the moonlight and speak words of dedication to her, letting her know the board belongs to her and that she should guard it always, only allowing truthful answers to come through and keeping you safe during each session of use. Then you will place her seal upon the back of board. You can charge the board itself with candles of corresponding colors. If for any reason you later decide to dedicate the board to a different spirit, you will have to start the entire process of cleansing and banishing all over again.

OPENING THE YOUR BOARD

Before you begin, be sure you are in a quiet place, free of distractions. You will want to darken the room and light your candles. Incense are also appreciated by the spirits. At this point you can call your guarding spirit and say a prayer of protection before beginning. Once you’re ready it’s a good idea to anoint the board with spirit oil and then knock three times. You will ask the spirits with true and honest answers to come through the door and speak to you. Begin your questions.

Options for proper use of the board:

You have the option of using the planchette in a figure 8 pattern or as a pendulum or with a pendulum made of stone. There are many ways to get answers depending on how well you communicate with the spirits. I have heard of some people reciting the alphabet until they hear interference on a letter or number. You can also use other tools along side like EVP machines. Whatever works for you, is acceptable.

TO CLOSE THE BOARD

To close the board after an Ouija board session, it is important to end the communication properly and respectfully. Begin by thanking the spirits for their presence and communication, tell them they are free to go in peace. Then, move the planchette to "Goodbye" or "Farewell" on the board to signify the end of the session, then finally, you will remove the planchette completely after a few moments of goodbye. It is recommended to cleanse yourself and the board and the surrounding area afterwards, using the methods we went over above (see cleansing the board)

Finally, store the board in a safe and respectful manner until its next use. If you do not have a box, you can use a black cloth to cover the board.
